Measuring Presults – Set Goals – Measure Results

Now a very important part of being in business is setting goals. My goals for next week include bringing in atleast 3 sales. 3 sales accounts for about $180.00 guaranteed and possibly more depending on the type of sale.  Now a very simple way to measure my results is to account for ALL the activity that I do and divide it by the number of sales it generates. It works, but it is very vague. Vague results wont help me focus on those activities that are most productive and that is my other goal.

SO my goals for the coming week include:
Generate 3 Sales
Determine which activities generate the most sales

Craigslist is an awesome advertising medium the problem is that most poeple couldnt begin to tell you how succesfull their craigslist advertising is. They have no idea, and because of this they have no idea how to improve their conversion ratios and gain more sales.

This is where measuring presults comes in. There is a free resource at statcounter.com that gives you free in depth viewer analysis of any page. With this tool i can tell how many people see my ad, how long they looked at it, where in the world these people are located, and a million other usefull tidbits.

with this information in hand I can set a goal. If say i get 3 people to view my page for 10 seconds I can set a goal of geting 6 people to view my page for 1 minute.  I can tweak my title, add more content, pictures,  and a million other factors.

Once I measure the results I can set a new goal and measure again and constantly improve my view/conversion ratios.

Try it, advertising on craigslist is free, and so is statcounter.com so you have nothing to lose but a few precious seconds, and these are easily made up for as you begin to improve you sales and marketing skills!

Let OTHER people make you rich!

If you read anything about becoming rich, building wealth, real estate investing, building a business, anything… the common theme is that you need to use other peoples resources. Other peoples money. Other peoples time. Other peoples expertise. Other peoples creativity. Etc. Etc. Etc.

Here is a NOVEL “other people” idea.

Why don’t we use other peoples BUSINESS!!!!!! It’s actually quite common. I once worked for an burglar alarm company. They used another company to monitor the alarms, and they bought the alarms themselves from honeywell. “So” you may ask “how did these people make their money”. WELL they purchased the monitoring service at say $25.00 per month and sold it to homeowners for say $35.00 per month and gave them top of the line honeywell equipment for free. Well free only if you signed up for a 3 year monitoring contract.

THE really cool thing is that they sold the service under their own name. This company didn’t have to hire, train,  or compensate people to monitor the alarms. This company didn’t have to custom build a monitoring system or office complex. They didn’t have to hire lawyers to make sure the monitoring companies policies were fair and legal. In effect they let somebody else do all the work, and all my company did was sell alarms and make money.

It’s such a simple Idea… USE IT!

Sell More Door to Door (or on the phone?)

Door to Door marketing is brutal business. It takes a lot of energy to generate sales with this method and it takes good record keeping to develop a strategy and optimize your productivity. Here are some notes that I have taken and the strategy that I have developed.

MARKETING TIMES:

8:00 Am – 5:00 Pm
Few people are at home, GREAT time for door hangers

5:00 – 6:30
People are GETTING home, a 6-1 ratio can be expected here in phoenix

6:30 – 7:30
Most People have gotten home, but many have left again to go to Mcdonalds
3-1 Ratio

7:30 – 10:00
Every Body has done what they wanted and most people are at home 3-2 ratio

After 10:00
People are in bed – they will call the police

STRATEGY:

The strategy is a 2 part strategy and it requires a large amount of paper stock. I LOVE door hangers, but my pricing sheets,

  1. Select 2 neighborhoods
  2. From 8:00 Am to 6:30 Pm PLACE door hangers in neighborhood 2
    1. If people are home SELL dtd (just knock, if no answer place door hanger)
    2. 6:30 to 10:00 pm DOOR to DOOR sales
      1. If no answer hang  door hanger

Lets break down the D2D strategy.

Select 2 neighborhoods
You need One neighborhood for your Door to Door sales, and you need another neighborhood for your door hangers. As you consume your D2D neighborhood your goal is to work your way INTO your door hanger neighborhood.

From 8:00 Am to 6:30 pm Place door hangers in neighborhood 2
Technically you ARE doing door to door sales in Neighborhood #2 BUT at the times that you are going to be working, almost nobody will be home, so most of the time you are just going to be door hanging. Since that is your MAIN activity it thus becomes the FOCUS of this time… if somebody is home try to sell them.


6:30pm to 10:00pm DOOR to DOOR sales.

Since according to my notes MOST people are actually home during this time slot you will focus your activities on DOOR to DOOR sales… if nobody is home JUST leave a door hanger.

EXTRA CREDIT
The cops will be called if you try to do Door to Door sales after 10:00pm BUT most people won’t even notice if you put a door hanger up, THIS would be a great time to do some marketing.

A similar strategy can be used to reach the heads of companies for B2B phone sales!

  1. Create 2 Call Lists
  2. 10:00PM-2:00 am No business is open Leave VOICE messages on list 2
    1. This list should be 2-3 (no more) days ahead of list 1
    2. 8:00am to 5:pm Call on call list 1
      1. If nobody answers just leave a voicemail
